Carol Haigh

Carol Haigh Profile

Carol is a founder member of the Parish Council which was
formed in 2005.

She has lived in Doxey since 1977 and has made many good friends and neighbours over the years.

When the Parish Council was formed one of the things they wanted to do was start a Youth Club up again. She helped to run the Youth Club until 2017. She is pleased that the Church decided to carry on running the Youth Club as she feels it is greatly needed for young people to meet and enjoy different activities together.

She feels proud of how the Parish Council has improved community activities in Doxey e.g.

  • Funding pensioners Christmas dinner at the Church
  • ·Grants for the Youth Club
  •  Providing dog waste bins
  • The lease of the Football Pitch, now Rugby pitch
  • Grants for Doxey Primary School & Church Gardens upkeep and Xmas trees
  • Redrow Park and the new equipment recently added (good to see so many children enjoying themselves)

She would like to thank everyone who voted for her to stay on the Parish Council during the election in 2019.

She looks forward to continuing to serve on the Parish Council and to help make Doxey an even better place to live and more community activities and meeting new people who have come to live in Doxey.

David Hughes

Councillor Profile

David has lived in Doxey since 2000 and was one of the Parish Council founder members when it was formed in 2005.

David is a retired Captain with the Army Cadet Force and served for 52 years.

He served 2 years on the board of governors with the College for Further Education (now Stafford College, part of the Stafford and Newcastle College Group)

He was a volunteer with Stafford and Rural Homes for 15 years as a customer inspector and a member of the customer board.

Eleanor Tristram

Councillor Profile

Eleanor is starting her second term of office as a Parish
Councillor (1 term = 4 years). She first became involved in 2015, as she had
become annoyed with standing outside the corridors of power, shouting in,
wanting change, and nothing changing. She decided to try and join the local
parish council, and thoroughly enjoyed her first four year term.

She has lived in Doxey for over 13 years, is in her mid 40’s and has a teenage daughter. She feels Doxey is a thriving community, with many of us having the same aims for our village.

She created the action group DASH (Doxey Against Segregated Housing) to fight social injustice. The group successfully fought to remove additional affordable housing to be built in Doxey leaving an estate in Baswich with none rebalancing both neighbourhoods in a fair way.

She looks forward to doing even more, in her second term as a Parish Councillor. Having been the driving force in the starting of the Parish Council Newsletter, which is hand delivered through every single door in the Parish quarterly, more of our residents are aware of the Council, and how we work hard to help make Doxey a happy village.
